Project Name: Indigenous Place Names in Southwestern Ontario

Project Description: In cooperation with Sustainable Archaeology, in consultation with First Nations with traditional territories in Southwestern Ontario, and working with local archives and oral historians, the researcher will conduct archival and oral history research into Indigenous places names still/previously used in Southwestern Ontario. Research into how or why particular place names have changed through time and the mechanisms of formally commemorating Indigenous place names (i.e., archaeological site naming conventions) could also feature in this research.
